Custom Orthotics from Milton Foot and Orthotic Clinic

Custom orthotics are medical orthopaedic devices used to alter foot function during gait. Orthotics are designed to correct, treat and help compensate for many different foot, lower limb and back abnormalities.

Some common conditions treated with orthotics include:

  • Flat feet
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Heel Pain
  • Neuroma’s
  • Heel Spurs
  • High Arches
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Knee pain
  • Lower back pain

To determine if orthotics are necessary a biomechanical exam and gait analysis are performed. If the results indicate orthotics are necessary a cast (impression) of each foot is taken in a neutral position. The casts are then sent to an orthotic laboratory where they are used as a template from which each orthotic will be built. This step ensures a precise, customized fit to the foot. The finished orthotic is placed into the shoe where it will help to support or correct the underlying problem.

Many extended health care plans cover custom orthotics when prescribed by a specialist, such as a Chiropodist or Chiropractor. To determine if orthotics may be indicated for you schedule an assessment with the Chiropodist at Milton Foot and Orthotic Clinic.
